暗算の達人

暗算の達人の頭の中でどのような数式処理がなされているかが良く分かります。これを全て最初から真似するは難しいかもしれませんが、知っていると得する情報(コツ)がつまっています。(上で挙がっている例は：36x11=396, 42x11=462, 35x35=1225, 83x87=7221と読むべきです) 掛け算を左から(大きな桁から)処理するという視点は、慣れるとかなり快適ですね。おおよその数の大きさを見積もりも楽になります。
「コンピュータもびっくり!速算100のテクニック」(中村義作)のように多彩な技(パターン)を沢山覚えるのでなく、覚える技を出来るだけ少なくして、あとは計算力を身に付ける、というのが著者のやり方のようです。(本書と中村本を比較しながら読むと結構面白いです。７で割り切れる数の見つけ方は両者違います）平方根の概算・計算方法や数パズル(○年○月○日は○曜日)というような話題もあって、かなり読み応えありますょ。(「計算力を強くする」等の本で速算に興味を持った方には、これらの本をオススメします)

また過去の暗算の達人の逸話なども載っていて楽しいです。ただ、本書では暗算の達人を一人お忘れです。それはフォン・ノイマン。８桁の割り算まで暗算できた、とか、電話帳の適当に開いたページをさっと眺めて、番号の総和を言って遊んでいた、とか。極めつけは「核物理学の計算をフェルミは大型計算尺で、ファインマンは卓上計算機で、ノイマンは天井を向いて暗算したが、ノイマンが最も速く正確な値を出した」とか。ノイマンも本書のような技を駆使していたのかもしれませんね。
